Bathroom resealing across the UK

Bathroom resealing is for UK homes whose shower, bath, basin, toilet base or wet-room joint has failed. The old silicone is cut out and a sanitary bead is tooled. A wipe or a bead laid over the old one is not this visit. Send the quote form or WhatsApp with the fitting and the postcode.

When the bead has failed

Spots on silicone that is still stuck to the tray or rim can be surface mould. A bead that has pulled away, cracked, or let water onto the floor is a failed joint. A cracked tray, a rocking pan, or a ceiling stain with sound silicone on the surface is a different job, and the quote will say so.

Doing it yourself

A new tube over the old bead peels. Silicone does not bond to old silicone, and a decorator’s caulk shrinks in a wet joint. Leave the failed bead as it is and send a photo. The visit cuts it out and tools a sanitary bead.

How long it lasts

On a dry, bare edge a sanitary bead often lasts several years. It can fail within months if the old silicone was left underneath, if water sits in the corner, or if the room is never aired. There is no fixed year guarantee. A steamy flat with one bathroom fails sooner than a house that is wiped dry and ventilated.

What the visit is not

A reseal

  • Old silicone cut out, then a sanitary bead tooled on the joint that was quoted.
  • Showers, baths, basins, toilet bases and wet-room surface joints.

A different job

  • Not a new bathroom, a retiling job, or tanking behind the tiles.
  • Not a plumbing repair, a new tray, or silicone laid over a failed bead.

What a quote usually covers

Shower

About £90 to £180 for a tray and screen, more if the bead is painted or the tray is curved.

Bath rim

About £70 to £150. A screen over the bath is included in that quote when it is staying.

Basin or pan

A basin is usually £45 to £90. A firm toilet base is usually £40 to £80. A rocking pan is declined.

Wet room

Surface joints at the channel and door often sit between £150 and £400. Tanking under the tiles is not included.

More than one joint

A bath and a shower on the same visit are priced as two lines, not a day rate. Say so on the form.

The written quote is the price

Send the fitting, a photo if you have one, and the postcode. The form is the enquiry. WhatsApp carries the same details.

How a reseal is done

01

Cut the old bead out

Failed silicone is cut and scraped off the joint that was quoted, including layers that were smeared on later.

02

Dry the edge

The shoulder has to be dry before new silicone will bond. A shower that is still running is not resealed that morning.

03

Tool the new bead

Mould-resistant sanitary silicone is gunned and tooled so the joint is closed, in white or the colour named on the quote.

04

Leave it to cure

Keep water off it for about 24 hours. After that, wipe it dry. Bleach is not needed on a fresh sanitary bead.
