Bathroom resealing questions

Can you remove mould on the silicone?

The black bead is cut out and replaced. A wipe or a spray on silicone that has already split does not close the joint. Mould in the grout between tiles, or a room with no ventilation, is a separate problem and is not sold as part of the reseal.

What sealant is used?

Mould-resistant sanitary silicone, tooled onto a dry edge. Acrylic and decorator’s caulk are not used on a shower, bath or basin. White is usual. Ivory, grey, clear or black is named on the quote when you ask.

Will resealing stop the leak?

It stops water that is getting out through a failed silicone joint. It does not stop a cracked tray, a leaking waste, a rocking pan, or water from behind wet-room tiles. Photos are how those are told apart before anyone books.

Do you reseal sinks and baths as well as showers?

Yes. Bathroom basins, bath rims, shower trays and screens, toilet bases, and the surface joints on an existing wet room. A kitchen sink is not booked here.

What does it cost?

A shower is usually quoted from about £90 to £180, a bath rim from about £70 to £150, a basin from about £45 to £90, and a firm toilet base from about £40 to £80. Wet-room surface joints often sit between £150 and £400. Painted beads, extra corners and a non-white colour move the price. The written quote is the price.

How long does a reseal last?

On a sound, dry edge a sanitary bead often lasts several years. It fails sooner if old silicone was left underneath, if water sits in the corner, or if the room is never aired. The visit does not include fitting an extractor.

Should I reseal it myself first?

A DIY bead over a failed one has to be cut out again and makes the visit longer. Leave the joint as it is and send a photo with the postcode on the quote form or WhatsApp.

What if water is coming through the ceiling?

Stop using that shower or bath and send photos of the joint and the ceiling on the quote form or WhatsApp. A split tray bead can be resealed. A failed membrane, a cracked tray, or a pipe is not a silicone repair, and the reply will say which it looks like.

How long is the bathroom out of use?

The work is usually one visit. Keep water off the new bead for about 24 hours. A home with only one bathroom should agree that window before the day.

Is there a phone number?

No. Use the quote form or WhatsApp. Include the fitting, the fault, and the postcode.
