Anti-Mould Silicone Application

Anti-mould silicone application is a reseal for UK showers, baths and basins whose bead has turned black and the fitting is staying. The failed silicone is cut out, then sanitary silicone with a mould inhibitor is tooled. A spray on a split joint is not this visit. Send the quote form or WhatsApp with a photo and the postcode.

Who it is for

It is for showers, baths and basins where the bead has turned black but the fitting is staying. Landlords book it between tenancies when a wipe has already failed.

01

Shower corners

Corners go black first because water sits there. The whole quoted line is replaced, not just the dark patch.

02

Bath rims and basins

The same sanitary silicone is used on a bath rim or a basin. A kitchen sink is not booked on this page.

03

Already-wiped beads

If bleach has been used, the old silicone is often softer and takes longer to cut out. That is said on the quote.

Included, and what this visit is not

Included

  • Removal of the mouldy bead that was quoted
  • A dry, clean edge
  • Sanitary silicone tooled so the joint is closed

Not this visit

  • We do not spray mould remover over a split bead and call it sealed.
  • We do not treat black tile grout as if it were silicone.
  • We do not promise a room with no fan will stay spotless if it is left wet.

How the visit runs

01

Send a photo of the black bead and the postcode.

02

The quote follows the length of joint and how much old silicone has to come out.

03

The old bead is cut out and the edge is dried.

04

Sanitary silicone is tooled and left to cure before the fitting is used.

What the quote is based on

This is priced as a reseal, not as a separate spray. A short basin line is usually about £45 to £90. A shower tray and screen is usually about £90 to £180. The written quote is the price.

When people book

People search this when spots return a few days after wiping, or when the bead has pulled off the tray and gone dark in the gap.

Before the visit

Do not bleach the joint on the morning of the visit. Leave the shower or bath unused so the edge can dry.

After the bead is tooled

Leave the new bead unused for about 24 hours. After that, wipe it dry and use the fan or an open window. Bleach is not needed on a fresh sanitary bead.

Questions on this job

Will the mould come straight back?

A closed sanitary joint resists mould better than a split one. A room that is never ventilated will still mark a bead over time. The visit does not replace a fan.

Is this a mould wash?

No. The failed silicone comes out. The mould resistance is in the new sanitary bead, not in a liquid left on the old one.

Is a black bead the same as a leak?

Not always. Black spots on a bead that is still stuck can be surface mould. A bead that has pulled off the tray is a leak path. The photo decides which visit it is.

Can I use a DIY anti-mould tube over the top?

A new tube over a failed bead peels, even if the label says anti-mould. The old silicone has to be cut out first. That is why this is booked as a reseal, not as a spray.
