Bath resealing

Bath resealing renews the joint where a bath rim meets wall tiles or a side panel, for UK homes whose bath is staying and the bead has cracked, gone mouldy, or let water onto the floor. A bath being ripped out is the wrong spend. Send the quote form or WhatsApp with a photo and the postcode.

Who it is for

It suits acrylic, steel and cast-iron baths that are staying. If the bath is being ripped out, a reseal is the wrong spend.

01

Rim against tile

The long back edge and the two ends are the usual lines. Corners are where the bead splits first.

02

Panel edge

A bath panel also needs a joint at the floor and sometimes where the panel meets the rim. A loose panel is a different job and will be said so on the quote.

03

Colour match

White is the usual finish. Ivory, grey or clear is matched when you say so on the form. A decorator’s sealant is not used on a wet joint.

Included, and what this visit is not

Included

  • Strip-out of the old rim silicone
  • Drying and cleaning the shoulder
  • A tooled sanitary bead on the quoted edges

Not this visit

  • We do not reseat a bath that has dropped.
  • We do not replace panels, taps or wastes.
  • We do not fill a gap that needs a bath to be moved back to the wall.

How the visit runs

01

Send a photo of the rim and the postcode.

02

The quote follows the length of rim and how much old silicone is bonded on.

03

The old bead is cut and scraped out.

04

A new sanitary bead is tooled and left to cure.

What the quote is based on

Most bath rims are quoted from about £70 to £150. A bath boxed in on three sides, or silicone that has to be dug out of a deep tile gap, costs more. The written quote is the price.

When people book

A black line along the rim, a soft patch on the bath panel, or water on the floor after use are the usual reasons to book.

Before the visit

Do not use the bath on the morning of the visit. Take bottles off the rim. Leave a path to the bath clear.

After the bead is tooled

Leave the bath unused for about 24 hours. After that, wipe the rim dry. A bead that is underwater all day will not last.

Questions on this job

Do you reseal a shower bath?

Yes, if the bath and the shower screen are both staying. The screen line is priced with the rim, not as a separate surprise.

Can you reseal over the old silicone?

No. A new bead on top of a failed one will peel. The old silicone comes out first.

What if the bath has dropped away from the wall?

A wide gap that needs the bath pushed back is not filled with a thick bead. The quote says the reseal is the wrong job until the bath sits properly.

How long is the bath out of use?

The rim is usually finished in one visit. Leave it unused for about 24 hours. In a house with a second bathroom that is simple. In a flat with one bath, that day is agreed first.
